10 things that you would be surprised to know about me:
1. I grew up in the Detroit area but didn't learn to drive until I left. 2. Figured out I had ADD during a case consultation meeting, during my internship for a master's in counseling OTHER people. 3. Slept next to a rhinoceros once, and let a baboon have first dibs on an outhouse. 4. Wrote and sang a song that was Song of the Month on a Japanese radio station last year. 5. Have a 13-year-old daughter who is short...but taller than me. 6. Have written a book of travel games with my family 7. Love dishes with fruit and meat (yeah, dried too), curries, world food, and anything untranslated on the menu 8. Hate the phrase, "like you never forget how to ride a bike" because I just can't ride a bike. Well, I did one afternoon, but then I forgot... 9. Am excellent at building rapport with people, even over the phone, but I have funny-looking toes. 10. I completely gave up songwriting for 10 years, then came back to it and release an album. Hi Ruth,
Thanks for your very interesting list! I checked out your website and absolutely love your music. Where in Michigan are you from? Darn, we could have jammed had you stayed. Congrats on getting back into the music biz; your talent is remarkable. And you like Joni, too? Terry Mostly Mt. Clemens...
Love Joni...respect her constant hunger for change...and her willingness to turn herself inside out. ADD is both a blessing and a challenge for me as a writer...sometimes I think I should put it down as a co-writer! I so appreciate your info, Terry! And Sari Solden helped me too when I was first understanding ADD, and lived in Ann Arbor...let's hear it for Michigan Women!

Hi,
I love how you write- want to write an article for my newsletter? : ) Yea, Sari is wonderful; she's my mentor and I'm fortunate that I'm near her so that I can see her at workshops, etc. Her book changed my life. What kind of guitar is that you're playing? I'll have to buy your CD; I'm really totally impressed. Oh, do you happen to know Jan Krist? She's local to me- we were friends in high school- and she went on as a professional musician. She introduced me to Joni tunings. Gotta love em! Terry Would love to write an article for your newsletter--would also be interested in swapping ADD coaching for my coaching on how to go after those dreams you thought you'd given up (if you know someone who coaches and feels the need for support with their dreams). What would you like an article about?
Sari's talk at an ADDA convention changed my life. Wept through a workshop on guilt and shame, realizing that 3/4 of the things I didn't like about myself or had caused me problems were all related to ADD. Didn't make those things go away, but put them in a context that had a name and people who understood it. In my album photo, I'm playing a Baby Taylor, although I now play a very playable Zager. But the stringwork on the album is by gifted Danny Parks. I wrote it all, but he plays it all. Love those alt tunings!

Hi,
Yes, her book changed my life as well and was a huge influence on my going into the field. I wonder if I was at that conference- was it at ADDA? Or in Ann Arbor? How about if we take the article/coaching discussion to email? You can email me at terry (at) addconsults.com... I've never heard of a Zager! I have a couple of Taylors and a vintage Martin D28 but prefer the Taylor hands down. Terry The author does not allow comments to this entry
