Never Give up on your Dreams

Waaaay back when I was in high school and even before that, I'd form musical groups with friends and perform locally. Once I began college, I put down my guitar (and drums, bass, piano, etc), to focus on my studies, then later on all the other things "grown ups" are supposed to do.

But my dream to perform never died. So when I began attending ADDA conferences, and later joining their board, I'd schlep out my guitar to perform at their annual talent show.

A few months ago, I reunited with some musical friends and long story short, we were asked to back up a local band at Peabody's, a restuarant/bar. The band also offered to give us some time to do some songs on our own during their break. So we did.

It was soooo much fun. We hadn't had much time to practice and it showed, but still, we gals had the time of our lives.

Music is coming back into my life, 30+ years later. It's never too late to find your dream or reconnect with an old one.

This is so good that you've returned to music! I had no idea, this is just great. That must feel so good. Good for you!

Well, my secret is my love of dance, maybe someday I'll return to it. At the age of 7th grade my ballet teacher informed my parents that in cheerleading, my muscles were being developed in the opposite way that a dancer's must be developed, so I essentially had to decide which way I wanted to go. My dear parents gave me the choice: professional ballet, school in N.Y.C., etc., or the traditional choice - college (and continue in cheerleading...) Well I went traditional, danced in college with a modern dance group there, but always wondered.... LOL So, someday I'll pick up some classes at the local park district. When life slows down a tad!

I have LOTS of secret dreams...I am buying a used violin to revive my childhood pleasure in practicing the violin; I would love to sing in a group, but my life in community theater leaves me no time at the moment. All good!
